Recordings of shiurim can contain private things: names, questions, personal matters. This page explains plainly what Kol Kesav keeps and why.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address (or a username given to you), your name if you gave one, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Your notes: the text of your notes, mareh mekomos, write-ups and translations, so they appear on every device you log in on. Only your account can read them.
- Usage: how many minutes of audio you sent for transcription each month, and how many write-up or translation requests you made each day, to apply your plan's limits.
- Billing: if you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment. We keep the Stripe customer and subscription IDs and the subscription's status. We never see your card number.
Your recordings
The audio itself stays on the device that recorded it. To transcribe it, the audio is sent through our server to an automatic transcription provider (currently Google's Gemini API), and the text comes back. Our server does not keep the audio. The provider handles it under its own terms for its API service.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or show ads.
- We don't read your notes. The site's admin page shows the owner your email, plan and hours used, which are needed to run the service. It does not show your notes.
- We don't use outside trackers or analytics scripts.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you logged in. It is not used for anything else.
Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and we will delete your account, your synced notes and your usage records. Notes saved on your own devices stay there until you delete them in the app or clear the browser. Billing records that the law requires us to keep are kept by Stripe.
